There’s Some Irony In There…

On the About page of this blog I quote Paul Boutin and hint at a disbelief in blogs as a medium for individuals.
Although at a certain I have been a so-called blowhard blogger, my background is different and I originate from the CMS. A scene where you slap lots of content on a site, have extensive link lists, maybe even run regularly news, linking to blogs, and try to build a community, most of the time in some kind of forum.

To be entirely honest, I never really liked the blogs as a platform option.

In times of credit crunch it is positive to know that the (US) tax systems always is ready and available to help you get rid of some more money. In the event you have earned a buck via other means, here’s what to do if you’re a US tax payer.

Illegal activities
Income from illegal activities, such as money from dealing illegal drugs, must be included in your income on form 1040 line 21, or on schedule C-EZ (Form 1040) if from your self employment activity.

Kickbacks.
You must include kickbacks,side commissions, push money, or similar payments you receive in your income…

Stolen property.
If you steal property, you must report its fair market value in your income in the year you steal it unless in the same year, you return it to its rightful owner.

Bribes.
If you receive a bribe, include it in your income.

If at least some more opinions, facts, comparisons were delivered, the article might have had some sense. Until then I’ll gladly adhere to the group of frivolous timewasters instead of the frustrated OS hackers.

Interesting update to the concept of a cheap touchdevice used mainly for browsing the web. The Crunchtablet as they call it internally.
If they manage to release one, with multitouch, I can see myself being in the market for one at $299. 10″ Seems perfect although I would love to see a widescreen resolution.

It would be a fantastic contract, yes, but there are other things more important than money. A player wants to be remembered for what he has won.

Imagine 10 years after you stop playing, you go back, you look around, you are not in any picture, you have no medals, no trophies; it is like you played for nothing.

You may have a fantastic car, a fantastic home, but what does it matter?

You can have a contract that is better than your friends, but no player looks back and says, ‘I won more money’.

Being a Manchester United fan I obviously do not fear Man City or see them winning trophies anytime soon. I must admit that the prospect of seeing Kaka in the Premier League is an interesting one, but at that price?
No one is worth that kind of money. And to be honest, I kind of ‘gave up’ on football some months ago after realizing how negative fans, me included, think. I want to be entertained and enjoy what players offer me, not scrutinize their every move.

It’s a pleasure to see how far Michael, whom I have worked with on Tubetorial during my time for Splashpress Media, has come. From subliminal pr0n evangelist to WordPress guru. Although the ‘guru’ thing can be debated ;).
