As an avid feed reader (how am I supposed to stay up to date with you if you don’t turn that damn thing on) I obviously always test out new readers, as well online as offline readers.
Last week was Google Reader’s week of fame. Today I reward Google Reader with the sucker of the week title. As I finally wanted to update my blog stalkings I realized how much this Google product sucks. Certain feeds have not been visited for a whole week.
Just like stated in this online feedreader review, Google Reader is fast in retrieving feeds, but obviously it can’t really deal with huge feed collections (I have 800+).
The biggest surprise came when I wanted to export the feeds. That is where Google Reader maximally sucks. First I had to open IE because in my Firefox I was directed to a blank page. Second there is no option to download the opml file, so I had to copy&paste.
But above all Google Reader doesn’t save the original blog url, so the usability of the opml for the blog stalkings was (almost) nil. I have added all the urls and the blogroll has finally been updated. In the next update I will integrate some more blogs I stalk. And now back to my old-fashioned FeedDemon.
Don’t forget to share your feed and help build the first completely objective blog ranking.

I’m too stupid to figure out the OPML thing. I tried. I haven’t any idea what I’m doing.
I couldn’t get into the google feeder. I like my bloglines, although some of my people don’t share their feeds. Then I have to click them. Dumb people. lol

Biased as I am, no feed no visits. Saves me time.
Forgotten. Export your feeds in bloglines. It will give redirect you to a url, or give you the possibility to download that file. You can import the file in any feed reader then, or if using services like rojo (beats bloglines) use the opml to import your feeds . At share your opml, you can even host your opml file and use it for all services allowing remote opml files.

Good point about the OPML export not having the blog URL. I have submitted a fix for this, and it should be in the next release of Reader (i.e. within a month).
