iReviewMe Opts For The PPP Way

May 2nd, 2007 by Franky · // Permalink

In the era of link selling, one of the marketplaces has always stood above other platforms : ReviewMe and offered bloggers the opportunity to write reviews, solidly priced reviews. The ReviewMe algorithm often calculated prices higher than the maximum price of a link at Text Link Ads, and even offered the blogger to set an own price.
This contrary to other services such as PPP or Loudlaunch, offering bloggers cheap a$$ revenue opportunities.

But times seem to have changed. Obviously expensive platforms don’t always attract that many clients, maybe bloggers, but advertizers tend to wait or look for other, cheaper and probably even SEO more compelling platforms than a single entry opportunity. So ReviewMe had to act. And did so.

With the launch of today’s new Marketplace advertisers now also have the option to set a fix campaign price for entries.

And suddenly opportunities for $5/entry can be found also at ReviewMe.

I still do think that this is an incredible big and smart business model, because many [freetime] bloggers would do anything to grab $6 or $7 and sell themselves under any reasonable hour rate. But ReviewMe’s new marketplace makes me think, think about Text Link Ads. TLA has become one of the better and consistent revenue platforms for many bloggers, but could it be that Patrick Gavin, who runs both TLA and ReviewMe, will soon introduce the same platform at TLA? Allow advertisers to set the price they want to pay for a month long link?

I’ll just sit back and look what will happen.
And be prepared to lose my respect for another company in the linkselling business, while the blogosphere gets spammed with more and more cheap a$$ links.

DISCLAIMER I do use both services, but would never write a paid entry under $25. And when, I’d make sure my hourly rate doesn’t drop under $100. Which still is cheap, but OK for a freetime occupation.
Call me a whore, but at least I’m no cheap one. ReviewMe today has opted, called for the cheapest whores bloggers.

Frank, please note that the original RM marketplace is still run exactly the same where you set your own price. The new marketplace of campaigns is completely optional for bloggers. Also, we won’t be allowing publishers to set their own pricing at TLA in my lifetime ;)
