WTF?!?! Microsoft actually made an update/new version which doesn’t require a system restart?!?! I admit I was already running the Beta version of WMP11, but I still am shocked. This will be another happy blogger. :D
Grab Windows Media Player 11 (and why didn’t it come over update an hour ago?) here. Why do I love it? Check this screenshot and forget iTunes and CoverFlow.

    It’s about time!

I have been using WMP 11 for months now in beta and it’s probably the best media player I’ve ever used, although still not perfect.

Swan, it would have been more painful if it were Celine Dion. :P

Andy, I agree. Especially to browse 17k tracks, I have never had anything better and above all I see more than one cover like in iTunes/Coverflow.
Not perfect? True, but haven’t we gotten a little spoiled by software like PowerDVD with Dolby ProLogic2, or Creative Media Source with CMSS, Dolby ProLogic2 and EAX?
Surely it would be nice to see MS invest in those technologies, especially since no one so far has integrated anything alike in a ‘free’ Media Player.
And as a genuine Windows geek I am looking forward to expected registry hacks for WMP11. What would would a Windows geek be without registry?

Actually little by little MS is winning me back. Vista RC2 KICKS and I find the Mac console surely not as usable as my beloved registry.
Besides that now I had the occasion last week too play a little with Tiger… Mac OSX has a baby face interface. :D
