So I’m sitting here, playing with Photoshop and bitching at Illustrator. It seems that I’ll finally get something from AIFN, bucks namely. My dearest friends, AKA Paypal had reversed the payment already, without acknowledging me. Luckily I could settle a new payment with the buyer, eventho the PR has dropped to 5 in the meanwhile, but I’ll write for them for a period.
So now I’m waiting for an echeque to be cleared, while browsing ebay for a new lappy.
Yes, I have already switched everything to Vista, but my actual laptop has a BIOS incompatibility with the Vista installer. Fuckers.
Anyway, I have seen a notebook I really like, a Sony Vaio notebooks (I am a sucker for Vaio design).
Again I wasn’t not looking for the most powerful notebook available, only for something that does the job for me and will run everything I need smoothly, even Vista Aero Glass. So I bought the Sony Vaio VGN-FE28B, with some more memory, because 1GB is a little too limited for me (in normal usage I hang around 750, just music, browsing, IM and some other normal stuff such as remote desktop and way too many files open in Notepad++).
Obviously as soon as the new toy arrives, first thing to do is format Windows XP Media Center and install Vista Enterprise Edition. And STFU about Norton products, they alone are a great reason to format everything and will not see that hard drive anymore once I’ve got it the notebook in my hands!
Free Music!!!
On another note, living in the UK has one advantage : iTunes.
Uhm, that sounds illegal. Let me correct that: iTunes sucks, not only because WMP 11 just is more user friendly, but mostly because of DRM. But in the UK many corporations get lots of iTunes gift certificates from Apple.
Did you think Apple is no whore?
Quite often you can buy those certificates for not more than 25% of the value, and trust me I am a huge taker.
But in our era, most of time music is nothing more than mainstream crap, so I decided to regularly give an album to readers over iTunes.
Yup, that’s right. Free DRM music!
Most of time I’ll offer not too known music, unless you’re home in the lounge, down-tempo, chill, nu-jazz scene. Perfect relaxing music, perfect to chill on the couch with a glass of wine or a lovely cocktail.
The offered album might be recent or some years old already, this totally depends on my mood. I’ll run this at least once every month and the winner will get the music over iTunes. Yup, totally legal.
And to kick things off, the floorJIVERS.
The floorJIVERS most of all are an awesome German live gig. Take an awesome sax player, with a Fender Rhodes piano and an upbeat DJ. Add soul, funk and chill. Shake everything until you get a harmonious mix and enjoy.
One of the best things about the floorJIVERS is that their music is appropriate for lounging as well as clubbing.
Sadly on their first album some earlier made tracks, mainly for Ibiza mixes, also appear and change the genre slightly. A not so smart move IMNSHO, but still a great album.
As teaser, Drip-Drop from their album e-Stylez.

I can’t say I haven’t really gotten used to Vista. I have seen over 4 years of alpha/beta testing how it evolved (and know many of the not used features) and it beats any platform right at the moment.
Although I have loved XP from day one, today I hurt myself using XP. I don’t need a new laptop, but I want Vista all over my network.

djizeus, it is no April Lavgne or Britney Spears. I’m sure that would have been lots more popular. ;-)
